We are proud to feature a selection of beers from some of the best breweries in the Black Country.

The Brewing Heritage of the Black Country

The Black Country has a rich brewing heritage that dates back centuries. The region’s unique blend of industrial and rural landscapes has given rise to a distinct style of beer that is both robust and refreshing. From the early days of ale-making to the present day, the Black Country has been home to some of the most renowned breweries in the country.

A Brief History of Brewing in the Black Country

  • The earliest recorded brewery in the Black Country dates back to 1580, when a brewery was established in Dudley. In the 17th and 18th centuries, brewing became a major industry in the region, with many breweries springing up in towns and villages across the Black Country. The Industrial Revolution brought significant changes to the brewing industry, with the introduction of new technologies and manufacturing techniques.

The brewery produces a range of beers, including pale ales, stouts, and porters, using a combination of traditional and modern brewing techniques.

    The Founders’ Vision

Scott Povey and Sharon Bryant, the founders of Fixed Wheel Brewery, share a passion for cycling and brewing. Their shared interest in both activities led them to create a micro-brewery that combines their two passions. The founders’ vision was to produce high-quality beers that would appeal to cyclists and non-cyclists alike.
